Connect to a Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot with an HTTP CONNECT tunnel + PAC file
I have a professional computer, that used to only have a PAC file enforced via GPO that forwards traffic to a particular proxy (a ZScaller ZEN) when I'm at work. But now, my company has also implemented ZScaller App (working as a service), which act (as I understand it) as a VPN, setting up a tunnel (via an HTTP CONNECT
method) to that same ZEN for all traffic on ports 80/44 that follows the PAC file configuration.
Before, I used to enable Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot to connect my mobile and access internet via the ethernet connection on my computer. I just had to add the proxy xxx.xxx.xx.xx:80
in my mobile phone settings. But now, with the ZScaller App installed and the tunnel set up, it does not work anymore, I can't access internet from my mobile via the WiFi Moble Hotspot connection.
Do you have any idea why?
I already tried this, but it is not working:
Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > then click on the Ethernet connection > Properties > Sharing tab > check mark the box to Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection > then under Home networking connection > select the Local area connection corresponding the to the WiFi Mobile Hotspot
Could it be related to the fact that the command netsh wlan show drivers
returns Hosted network supported : No
? But then, should it not have worked before?

I have tried to start the hostednetwork vianetsh wlan start hostednetwork
, but it failed. Plus, the "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter" is missing from Device Manager > Network Adapters (showing hidden devices), which seems to be related. This link suggest that my Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Adapter simply does not support hostednetwork virtual router and that Windows 10 now uses WiFi Direct to create the mobile hotspot : answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro4-surfnetwork/…
