Why is gen2 ping latency much lower than other linux?

0

When I tried to optimize network latency, I noticed that gen2 linux ping latency is much lower than other linux systems (centOS, ubuntu, redhat, ...) For example, in my LAN gen2 rtt ping latency is only 9us while all other linux systems are around 15us.

I know that gen2 is very customer-made and I only used default kernel parameters with 3.10.0-957.1.3.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Nov 29 14:49:43 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, so what made the difference? Is there anything I can tune to make other linux systems faster?

Another thing I noticed is that in gen2 my latency tests (UDP packets of 8-32 bytes) do not show significantly lower min/median values than other linux systems, even though ping latency min/max/average are all significantly lower. Why is this?
