Romove a word from the Firefox dictionary or prefer the alternative in the custom dictionary

0

I want to delete a word from the Firefox dictionary or to force it to use the alternative that is already in the custom persdict.dat as the suggestion.

In all concreteness, Firefox simply won't stop suggesting FORTRAN for various misspellings of Fortran even-though Fortran IS present in persdict.dat and even if the misspelling is closer to Fortran than to FORTRAN. How to change that? I had to do these corrections in other people's Stack Overflow questions almost every day.
