autounattend.xml - Upgrade and/or Fresh Install possible
I'm currently working on an autounttend.xml for Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. The file resides in the root of the ISO/DVD, so that setup.exe takes it always into consideration. E.g. I configured different things like "OOBE", "ProductKey", "AcceptEula" and so on. This works fine when I boot from the ISO, all options work and I end up with the expected clean installation.
The problem comes in, when I launch the setup from a running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (version 1607). As soon as the setup finds autounattend.xml, it does not give me the possibility to select "upgrade". Autounattend.xml has the following option which does not seem to work:
<UpgradeData>
<Upgrade>true</Upgrade>
<WillShowUI>Always</WillShowUI>
</UpgradeData>
The behavior for an ISO without autounttend.xml present is, that the launch of "setup.exe" from a running OS immediately hands over to "sourcesSetupprep.exe", which takes care of the upgrade. This handover does not work if autounattend.xml is present. This is obviously right, but I was hoping the option mentioned above provides this functionality, as its name suggests so. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to combine the upgrade and the option for a fresh install?
