Encode stereoscopic h265 video with FFmpeg

I've seen somewhere to encode a 3D stereoscopic h264 video in an MP4 container for YouTube with FFmpeg you'd put the argument -x264opts frame-packing=3 (or something along those lines, don't remember the exact command). However, I've noticed that when using this argument while encoding with h265 instead, when you upload it YouTube the site doesn't detect it as 3D. How can I encode a stereoscopic L-R side-by-side 3D video (not 360° video) as h265 with FFmpeg?

  • You mean the information here? support.google.com/youtube/answer/7278886?hl=en — probably the last command shown there works for HEVC-encoded video as well.
