DD-WRT IPSEC VPN Downstream of Router

0

I need to create a site-to-site IPSEC VPN between two sites, my main limitation is the routers in play as they are very limited in functionality but I can at least put a single device on the DMZ.

Current Topology

Router ------------> WLAN/LAN
192.168.x.1
DHCP Enabled
Wireless Enabled

What I am thinking is the proper course of action (as the budget is limited), is to place a dd-wrt router at each site, and create the VPN links between these, they would also be placed on the DMZ for incoming traffic, firewall rules etc. Therefore my proposed topology is:

Proposed Topology

Router -----------> DD-WRT Router -----> WLAN/LAN
192.168.x.1 192.168.x.2
DHCP Disabled DHCP Enabled
Wireless Disabled Wireless Enabled

Question

With the above-proposed topology am I correct in my assumption that local clients would be able to route successfully over the VPN without any further work than a simple VPN setup on the routers?
