NFS Indexing is super slow

0

I have a RAID 1 config on a pair of NVMe drives that are lightning fast. I setup an NFS on my VM Machine Host and then mounted that NFS on my iMac. I copied all my source code to the NFS directory so that I can access the source code from the VM's and from my iMac. However, my IDE is taking like 20 minutes to index just one project, so this solution isn't going to work for me as is.

I am wondering if there is a way to speed NFS up?

If not, is there a solution out there that will keep copies of the files at both locations, the host and the mount, and when i update a file on the mount, it updates it on the host, and vice versa?

Im thinking GlusterFS might do that, but im not 100% sure. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
