Is asp.net a good first backend framework?

0

I've been developing firmware for embedded systems for the last year and I'm looking to transition into a different field. I have my eye on back-end development, and I've been trying to decide which framework to dabble in.

I have some experience writing small desktop applications in C#, so I thought ASP.NET might be a good framework to start learning with, however it seems like this is more enterprisey and not as geared toward solo/hobbyist developers.

I know that the choice of your first language/framework isn't too important, but I thought I'd throw this question out there: Is ASP.NET a good first back-end framework? Or are there others which are significantly easier to pick up that I should start with?
