in amazon SQS Queue, restrict only one consumer at a time

In my java application, I am using Amazon SQS queue with 5 consumers(Ec2 instances). whenever a message is posted to queue, only one consumer should receive this message and other consumers shouldn't do anything. How to achieve this.

  • "only one consumer should receive this message and other consumers shouldn't do anything" That's how SQS works. Each message is delivered to one consumer. Are you experiencing something other than this?
