Sony Vaio strange RAM support issue

-1

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with model number SVF15218SNW. It came with 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM from the manufacturer(and as per motherboard specification can handle RAM up to 12 GB ). But recently one day the display just turned off. So, I went to a computer technician with the issue. He suspected that it might be a problem with the RAM. He tested my laptop's RAM on a different laptop and surprisingly it was working fine. Then he tried different RAMs of size 4GB and 8GB compatible with the motherboard specification but it was of no use as there was no display. Only when he tried with a 2GB RAM the display turned back on. Now for any compatible 2GB RAM there is display on my laptop but for anything above 2GB there is no display. Can any one tell the reason why my computer all of a sudden has stopped supporting RAMs above 2GB(the computer technician could not tell me the reason). Also suggest how I can overcome this problem.
