How can I remove the infopane when viewing Windows 10 start menu search results?

My apologies if this is a duplicate - I've had a lot of trouble finding information about this elsewhere, or even a screenshot of what I'm talking about.

When I search for a program in the Windows 10 start menu, the top result has a big whitespace filled info box:

giving me various ways to interact with the program. I'd like to get rid of this, and have only the "left half" of the start menu appear. I think the info box is ugly and a bit of a waste of screen space.

This is a fresh install of Windows 10, and in previous installs I haven't had this info box. I'm curious if there is a way to disable this functionality directly through Windows, or if I previously had some program that was disabling this for me.

  • You're asking if the user interface can be designed. The window on the right isn't just empty space, it contains options you need to select from. It's also open only while you're interacting with it. That dialog needs to happen somewhere, and Microsoft did it that way. If you simply eliminate that window, the dialog won't appear in the previous menu, it just wouldn't work.

  • @fixer1234: The "right" part is redundant anyway since I can just right-click the search result and see the same options. And I can left-click the result to launch the program. Functionally it doesn't add anything new, so I disagree that it has to happen somewhere, which is why I asked if there was a way to disable it. Since nobody really seems to know what I'm talking about, I'm guessing that I had done something with DisplayFusion in my past Windows install that made this "right" part of the start menu not appear.

  • I must be missing something (I'm not a Win10 user). The left panel looks like a search result, one item being Edge. It looks like if you select Edge, you get the window on the right, which gives you the next layer of options (or perhaps that's part of what comes up with the search result, all one big dialog window). That's where Microsoft chose to display those options, and that's how the UI works. If you want to open Edge, there are three options you need to pick from. Any change from that requires redesigning how Microsoft's UI works; you can't simply eliminate a chunk of dialog interface.
