HLS stream doesn't work

0

Good morning, I am setting up an HLS live stream and I have both playlist and segments ready to go. I use Apache for webserver transmission. I ran

http://localhost/stream/play.m3u8

with VLC and ran the play.m3u8 with ffplay as well and it works fine. But when I try to embed it in a simple html page like this

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html lang="en">
<body>
<video width="960" height="600" src="http://localhost/stream/play.m3u8" controls=""></video>
</body>
</html>

and run it with windows Edge (that supports HLS), it shows me only the duration of the video but it won't start. What could be the problem?

  • Edge says it supports HLS, but it doesn't really work. Use a sane browser.

  • I tried it on Internet Explorer and it gives me Error, I also have Chrome but it doesn't support it.

  • Internet Exploder is not a sane browser, and Chrome has no HLS built-in, so you need something like mediaelement.js - this will make your Stream cross-browser.

  • I'll do some researches about mediaelement.js then. Thanks!
