How to open text file with text editor (instead of text viewer) in MS OneDrive?

I have several text files in a OneDrive folder. I like opening them with a text editor (instead of the text file viewer) as it saves me from opening a new tab etc if I start reading the file and realise that I'd like to modify or add a few words. Those files are recognized as being text file by their extension: either *.txt or *.md.

However, default behaviour when opening the file from the OneDrive "file explorer view" is to open it with the text file viewer. To open it with the text editor, I have either to click the "sandwich button > open with > open with text editor", or to first open it with the text viewer and then click the "Open With > text editor" button. Both options are slow and cumbersome. It might not be the end of the world, but it is quite anoying to as I work with text files quite a lot.

How can I get OneDrive to open the file with the text editor by default?
