Is Mali VPU a different physical chip or a chip inside the GPU?

0

Arm/Mali says that their GPUs are 2d, 3d and video components.
Does that mean that their VPU (Video Processing Unit) is a physical chip on it's own? Or it's just a "virtual" unit?
