Need help figuring out how to use this equation
$begingroup$
Im trying to make an app that calculates the apparent magnitude of satellites. I am given this formula
Mag = Std. Mag - 15 + 5*LOG(Range) -
2.5*LOG(SIN(B) + (pi-B)*COS(B))
Std. Mag is -1.8 , B is the solar phase angle, and range is the distance to the satellite in km. My problem is actually getting B. It says it needs the phase angle in radians (I have it in degrees) and specifies more stuff about B that i do not understand. When i just multiply the degrees by 0.0174533 to convert it to radians, it does not produce accurate data. According to other questions ive found on stackoverflow, it does actually work. Here is a link to where i got the formula and where it is explained http://www.satobs.org/seesat/Apr-2001/0313.html
