Java JRE distribution and JDK licensing

0

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I'll give it a go :)

We have a hardware product (scientific instrument) where we supply the user with a java application served via webstart and also distribute an unmodified Java JRE 7 installer in case of offline use. Software on the hardware product is also written in Java. We would prefer to avoid purcasing a license from Oracle.

  1. Are we allowed to continue supplying the users with a JRE installer with respect to Oracles licensing changes?

  2. We are already moving away from webstart, can we continue using Oracle JDK to compile the application (both for the instrument and the client) or do we need to move to OpenJDK?

Any advice appreciated
