Audio not working with pulse audio

0

I've bought my brand new Sony headset which is plugged in the 3.5mm jack port and I'm not receiving any audio. The headset is good because I tried it on my cellphone and it does work.

I've installed pulseaudio and via my i3/config file I execute it when I log in.

I've opened the alsamixer but it only has 2 sound car options: Intel HDMI and Intel PHC and none of those seem to work for my headset.

Whenever I open the pavucontrol program, it just says that is trying to establish a connection with pulseaudio and nothing more. SO I run pulseaudio to check and the output I get is that pulseaudio is already running.

I use volumeicon also and it doesn't work for setting my headset up.

When I connect a USB Logitech headset, it does work, so it seems I'm missing something kind of obvious but I don't know what

How can I properly set my jack 3.5mm headset as an output for my sound card?
